Impact of gender in schools
Gender can be defined as the particular range of characteristics that pertain to, and bring about the differentiating between the masculinity and the feminity. Gender can also be said to be the characteristics that are socially constructed that belong to men and women. They include roles and norms. They are known to vary from society to society and that they can also be changed. Gender is an essential aspect of schools when it comes to the social foundation of education. Children as young as the age of three years already have a gender identity and that they begin to learn the cultural gender stereotypes. Gender, through gender socialization, forms the basis of the social foundation of education and the most common agents of it include the schools, teachers, and parents.
Gender is very crucial when it comes to the social foundation of education. The social foundation of education involves the interdisciplinary program that mainly highlights the social influence, the cultural, and the philosophical forces of education. For the prosperity of all these to occur, gender has to be taken seriously to avoid gender-based violence. This topic is important to me because it will help address all the negative issues surrounding gender when it comes to the social foundation of education. Students need to understand gender and know the importance of it properly. A proper function social foundation of education needs students and other individuals to maximumly respect gender. This helps fight the gender-based discrimination that mostly affects the social foundation of education. Sharing this topic will involve me making a brief but clear presentation to the staff members during the staff meeting. Such will ensure the matter is addressed with urgency to help create a positive environment for all students in the school irrespective of their gender.
